Arsenal scored just one goal in January, which is almost too hard to believe, so it’s no wonder Gaspar Edu and Mikel Arteta are beating the bushes looking for a goal scoring center forward.
Of course, the name that has been mentioned the most in recent weeks is Fiorentina’s Dusan Vlahovic. Reportedly, the Gunners have offered Fiorentina a boat load of cash for a transfer fee, and are willing to pay the Serbian striker a second boat load of cash to play at the Emirates.
However, either it’s the player’s agent, or the player himself who is making it difficult to seal the deal. Today, reports by the Metro claim Juventus has also entered the race to sign Vlahovic. El Nacional is reporting the player’s camp seems to be refusing to return calls from the Fiorentina front office to discuss any transfer possibilities for Vlahovic. Again, is this the agent or the player? Also, maybe Arsenal’s current form in January has something to do it with it as well.
So, what does Arsenal do in the meantime, since there are only sevens days remaining in this transfer window? Well, in my book, the Gunners have two, maybe three choices.
Choice #1: Break the bank and go all in for Dusan Vlahovic until the bitter end.
Choice #2: Go after your back-up man on your striker wish list, Alexander Isak. The Swedish international is not quite the player Vlahovic is, however, the Real Sociedad forward could be heads and tails better than what we have on our squad right now.
Choice #3: Rebuild your relationship with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and see if the Gabonese striker can help the Gunners get out of this scoring drought. However, this choice could be risky on many levels including his attitude, his fitness, the fact he hasn’t played for Arsenal since December 6th, and the fact he hasn’t scored a goal for Arsenal since October 22nd.
When asked about the current state of Arsenal transfer is January, Mikel Arteta said, “We are certainly trying, but I don’t know if we are going to be able to do it.”
I’m not sure what that means, but it doesn’t sound positive.
On a positive note, Tuttosport in Italy and 90min in England are reporting Arsenal are close to signing Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo on an 18-month loan. The only hang-up appears to be Juventus needs to find a suitable replacement before allowing Melo to leave for London.

I reckon we may still get Dusan Vlahovic, at least he has said he would play in premier league but prefers Man City. This could just be his managers speak for more money.
One striker will still not solve our woes. Arteta will still play only one striker.
Suggest people have a look at fiorentina formations. Often they okay 4 3 3 or 4 4 2
Occasionally 4 4 1 1.
That’s why Dusan Vlahovic. scores so many goals.
Arteta does not understand those formations, he’s never used them, he seems to be more worried about getting Barcelona job.
If we only going to play with one striker I suggest we save money and buy a coat stand and out that up front.

I am surprised Arteta gets a contract extension. If you own a racehorse you want it to win, if you own a super maxi yacht you also want it to win.
Why don’t Arsenal owners want Arsenal to win? Why are they not telling Arteta to play with two strikers? Why don’t they tell him to attack more?
If I owned a football club scoring goals and winning would be not negotiable. That is what should be inserted into Artetas contract . We are Arsenal not a sandpit for Arteta to play in.
