The self-proclaimed “Special One,” Jose Mourinho, has been appointed Tottenham Hotspur’s new manager. Mourinho has been out of a manager’s job since December 2018 when he was fired at Manchester United. He replaces Mauricio Pochettino who was sacked yesterday after 5 1/2 years as the Spurs’ boss.
The 56-year-old Portuguese has won 10 major trophies during his managing career. His jobs have included Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea again, and Man United. Mourinho has been controversial everywhere he has worked.
So, what happens at Tottenham? It will be interesting to see what tactical changes Mourinho makes with a squad that includes Harry Kane and Dele Alli. Hotspur travels to West Ham for a 7:30 am EST kick-off on Saturday. We’ll be watching.
Now, does this turn up the heat on Unai Emery and the Arsenal board of directors? One would think so. Does this move at Spurs put the Gunners brass squarely behind the 8 ball with supporters? Did David Levy beat Arsenal to the punch by making a midseason change that could bring positive results to Tottenham?
As the saying goes, only time will tell.
Cheers. Gunner1953
