He is young and talented, however, the 21-year-old Frenchman has dug himself into a deep hole with Mikel Arteta, and it looks like he won’t find his way out any time soon.
The midfielder hasn’t trained withe Gunners’ first team since the loss at Brighton and Hove when he got into a fiery confrontation on the pitch after the final whistle.
Combine this event and the blow-out he had with Arteta during the team’s training trip to Dubai some months back, and it’s not looking good. The inside scoop is that Guendouzihe hasn’t apologized to Arteta for either incident, so you might see him packing his bags in the near future.
The French daily newspaper L’Équipe is reporting the likes of Lyon, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid could possibly be interested in taking him away from Arsenal. However, the article also indicated Barcelona is a serious contender too, and that talks between Guendouzi’s agent and the Spanish giant have been on going.
The Gunners asking price is $50.5-million (USD). Arsenal would also be open to a swap deal.
This entire situation is really too bad for Arsenal, and for Guendouzi, too. For the Gunners, to loose such a gifted and promising young player due to his bad attitude is upsetting, however, at the end of the day, Mikel Arteta doesn’t need Guendouzi’s BS to become a distraction as the boss works to make this team better and more competitive.
For Guendouzi, I hope he matures as a person and becomes the type of player I know he can become, on and off the pitch.
