Arsenal gets their 2nd man as the transfer deadline approaches

As the clock ticks down to zero hour of the 2020 January transfer deadline, Arsenal has completed their second deal.

Cedric Soares has been signed on loan through the end of the season. The 28-year-pld Portuguese fullback joins the Gunners from Southampton where he had 100 appearances since joining the Saints in 2015. Soares has also made 33 appearances for his country.

Soares joins Pablo Mari who was signed by the club on loan earlier this week as the Gunners new signings.

Mikel Arteta said about Soares, “He’s a player who’s got a big experience. He’s played in different countries, he’s played in this league, he knows what it means. He’s very willing to go to another top club and he’s got that desire, that commitment. I followed him a few seasons ago, I started to follow him and I really like what he can bring. They were the right conditions for us as well to try to improve the squad.”

Soars was quoted as saying, “It feels amazing. It’s a dream come true being here, and being able to play for Arsenal is unreal.”

Soares comes to Arsenal with an injury right which might see him sidelined until after the winter break.

So, what now for the Gunners in the transfer market? Are there more possible signings to come in the next few hours?
All is quiet in north London as of this writing. There are still a few names rumbling around the transfer rumor mill for Arsenal, but I would be surprised if anyone else is signed,

As for potential Gunners leaving the Emirates, it looks like the chances are slim, if not unlikely. Barcelona’s interest in Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has cooled, Dani Ceballos says he will now stay at Arsenal, and Shkodran Mustafi’s injury will keep him at Arsenal as well. Never say never, but it looks like Arteta’s squad is set through the end of the season.

It looks like things are on the uptick for the Gunners. As you watch the team in matches, and as you see the signings that have been made one can ascertain the remainder of this season looks much brighter than before. There is a lot of work for Arteta and his squad to do, but all of us Gooners must stand behind Arteta and give this club everything we can to support their performances.

COYG!

Cheers. Gunner1953
