Do we need to worry about Auba’s lack of goals?

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has not scored a goal since the Premier League opener at Fulham on September 12th, and that has some people alarmed.

However, if you look at Arsenal’s schedule, that is only four games. (He didn’t play in the two Carabao Cup games)

Former Premier League veteran striker and English national team member Darren Bent went as far as to say this about Aubameyang’s recent performances, “I don’t know if it’s coincided with the new contract, but you can tell he’s not playing with the same intensity that he had before.”

I think it might be too early to begin worrying about the captain’s scoring record or “intensity,” however, we do need to worry about the club’s overall offensive output this season.

Counting the Community Shield, the Gunners have scored 11 goals in 8 games. Take away the 3 goals scored at Fulham, and that becomes 8 goals in 7 games. Now, our defensive record has been very good this season, yet to compete for a top four spot in the PL, the Gunners will have to begin scoring more goals.

With the talent we have on the front line, the only excuse is our lack of midfield creativity. We need that one guy who can provide Lacazette, Pepe, Willian and Aubaymeyang with those special passes that result in goals.

Is Thomas Party that guy? I believe he is a passing genius, however, his seems to be more positioned as a box-to-box midfielder. Will Arteta allow our new man to play higher up the pitch to help create chances? Will the boss go with 5 at the back to put Partey in a more attacking role?

Whatever it takes, Arteta and his staff need to find solutions to help his forwards become more offensively involved in the upcoming matches, and, that includes all of our forwards, not just Aubameyang.

Yes, Auba is in a mini-scoring drought at the moment, but you can take it to the bank he will soon add goals to his already impressive account at Arsenal.
