Edu Gaspar and Mikel Artera are on a roll. After making the surprise announcement about Porto midfielder Fabio Vieira on Friday, the pair have now secured the signature of striker Eddie Nketiah on Saturday.
The young, English frontman had multiple clubs approach him over the past few months, however, Nketiah has committed his skills and talent to the Gunners in a multi-year contract.
This is great news for Gooner Nation since Eddie has become a fan favorite at Emirates Stadium. He will play a major role in Arteta’s plans going forward.
Arteta told Arsenal .com, “I’m delighted Eddie is staying with us. He represents what we are all about and all the values of the club. We are very happy that he has extended his contract and now we have to get to work and continue to develop the great talent and person that we have in him.”
Edu added, “The foundations of this squad are built on young talent and in particular those who have come through our Academy system. Eddie was released by another club as a young man but has always shown he has the attitude as well as the ability to become a top player. The fact he’s signed a new contract is an important part of our squad planning for next season and we’re all delighted.”
Except for a loan spell at Leeds United, Nketiah has been a Gunner since 2017. He has made 59 senior appearances and scored 10 goals for the Gunners.
Eddie will wear the #14 shirt beginning this season.
Congratulations Eddie!
Cheers.
