After a dismal showing at the Emirates on Thursday, the Gunners bounced back to defeat League One side Portsmouth 2-0 earlier today. Arsenal will advance to the FA Cup’s quarterfinal round. By winning the FA Cup, AFC would be given an automatic berth in the Europa League group stage competition for next season. The FA Cup quarterfinals draw will take place on Wednesday.
Thanks to goals by Sokratis and Eddie Nketiah, the Gunners cruised to the win. Even though, Portsmouth’s home ground is not an easy place to play, the Gunners played with poise and solidarity. New boy Pablo Mari put in a solid game, as did his sidekick David Luiz.
The only real negative for the Gunners was the injury to Lucas Torreira. The young Uraguayan was stretchered off the pitch in the first half. The event of his injury will be revealed tomorrow.
Thanks to all of the worldwide Gooners for their extra mojo today! The plan really worked and helped our club advance to the next round of the FA Cup.
Next up, West Ham United on Saturday for a Premier League clash at the Emirates!
