With so much talk going around about Aubameyang, Gabriel, Willian and Guendouzi, Alexandre Lacazette’s name seems to get a little lost in the conversation. Let’s not forget, he is one of a number of Arsenal players being considered as a candidate to leave the club before the window closes on October 5th.
Today, Mikel Arteta told reporters at his pre-match press conference that Laca is happy at Arsenal, and that Arsenal is happy with him. However, in recent days there have been rumors claiming the Frenchman wants to be transferred to Atletico Madrid or Juventus.
Speculation is that Lacazette is concerned about how much playing time he might get this coming season with competition coming from a group of talented youngsters waiting in the wings. That list includes, Martinelli, Nketiah, and Nelson. Then, of course, he also has competition from the veterans, Aubameyang, Pepe, Saka and Willian to contend with as well.
Laca has been with the Gunners since 2017. He has 37 goals in 97 appearances. Following the 2017-2018 season he was named Arsenal’s Player of the Season.
I have always been a supporter of Lacazette, however, with the depth of forwards we currently have, and with our burning desire to bring in such players as Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar, our current #9 could be expendable at this point in time.
The same can also be said about goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez. If Arteta has annointed Bernd Leon as his #1 keeper, then Martinez deserves a chance to play elsewhere. For me, and many of my readers, Martinez should be Arsenal’s #1, but then again we don’t make those decisions. It sounds like the deal with Aston Villa for Emiliano is pretty much done, however, the Lacazette scenario seems to be more 50/50 right now.
Stay tuned!
Cheers, and stay healthy and safe!

Football Insider reports the Gunners will have no interest in selling Martin Zubimendi in January.

Mikel Arteta on signing a new contract, “We are all very much aligned. Whenever the time is right, we will get that done. There is nothing to be concerned about. We have the same ambition and the same will. Whenever we have the time, we will get that sorted.”

Agree , Martinez is an outstanding keeper and a winner. We do not often get such a keeper and when we have one , we are keen to sell to raise fund.
I firmly believe that he is the key to Arsenal success, if only the coach has the guts to realize that fact.
