The Gunners spent over $200-million (USD) in the summer transfer market. Will White, Ramsdale, Lokonga, Tavares, Odegaard and Tomiyasu be enough to help Mikel Arteta save his job?
The best bet says the manager must secure some wins before the October international break, or face sacking.
With that said, I dug out my crystal ball to make some predictions for the club’s next five matches.
Here they are…
September 11 v Norwich City (Arsenal gets their first league win and goal of the season – W 1-0)
September 18th @ Burnley (Arsenal are starting to click a little bit and have enough to win the match – W 2-1)
September 22 v AFC Wimbledon (Arteta needs this tournament to help save face, so he plays a solid squad – W – 4-0)
September 26 v Tottenham Hotspur – (A North London Derby will help us see exactly if our team has really improved after the disastrous start to the season – D 2-2)
October 2 – @ Brighton and Hove Albion (This one scares me, and I’m afraid of a letdown here – L 2-1)
So, if Arteta can win 3, draw 1 and lose 1 in the next five matches, I think he will make it through at least December. Plus, 7 points in the league table should propel us out of the relegation zone and give the squad some confidence going into the rest of October, November and December.
