Lick our wounds and move on…

If the Gunners have any hopes of advancing to the Europa League semifinals, they better find a way to score some goals. But then again, what else is new this season? After 47 games, Arsenal is averaging just over 1.5 goals per game.

I have said this more than once on this website, PLEASE HIRE THIERRY HENRY TO SHOW OUR PLAYERS HOW TO HIT THE TARGET!” Once again, wide left, wide right, hitting the crossbar or the upright. How many times have we seen this happen this season, and then again on Thursday v Slovia Prague? When you create such few chances, it is important to make good on the ones get!

Mikel Arteta had this to say to Arsenal.com after the match, “What was missing is that when you create big chances in Europe, you have to take them. I think we merited much more than the result that we got. When we made the most difficult thing, which was to score the first goal and just wait for the last four or five minutes and manage the game much better than we did, we failed to do that and then we gave them the opportunity in the corner and they scored the goal to tie the match and put us in a different position. Looking back to what happened on the pitch, it’s not what we expect.”

Okay, enough of that. At least he didn’t blame himself this time.

We’ll have a struggle on our hands when we travel to the Czech Republic next week…that’s for sure. However, we still have a Premier League match to play between now and then.

Since I will bet out of pocket for a couple of days, here is my projected Arsenal starting XI v “the bottom of the table” Sheffield United on Sunday.

[4-2-3-1]

Aubameyang

Martinelli, Smith Rowe, Saka

Xhaka, Partey

Cedric, Gabriel, Mari, Chambers

Leno

Final score:

Sheffield United 0 – ARSENAL 2
