Arsenal returned to the win column after a good performance v Luton Town on Wednesday in Emirates Stadium.
It wasn’t the Gunners best showing of the season, but it was enough to get the three points. The match also offered an opportunity to rest several of Mikel Arteta’s front line players. It also provided an opportunity for Emile Smith Rowe to play, for Thomas Partey to get a lot of amount of minutes, and for Reiss Nelson to have a starting nod as well. Overall, it was a nice job by everyone involved!
I wish, however, that Ben White and Martin Odegaard could have been taken off at the 60 or 7o minute mark to get a little rest for Saturday. These two men have been running their socks off in recent games and deserve some additional rest.
As it stands right now (11:30 am EDT on Thursday), Arsenal is in first place on the Premier League table. Liverpool plays later this afternoon v Sheffield United. One would have to assume the Reds will get three points from this match.
So, Brighton and Hove is next up on the fixture list from the south coast of England. The Seagulls are currently in 9th place on the league table, with 3 wins, 4 draws and 5 defeats in the Premier League since the beginning of 2024.
Aaron Ramsdale, Leandro Trossard and Ben White all return on Saturday to their former club, so this match will have even more significance for these 3 Gunners.
