Anyone who knows anything at all about football would have to agree with what former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell said about William Saliba.
Following some impressive preseason performances, Campbell has compared Saliba to Liverpool great Virgil van Dijk, and that’s saying a lot!
“If Virgil van Dijk is a Rolls Royce, Saliba is a Bentley,” Campbell told Football Insider.
“He is never flustered, and his passing is a lot better than a lot of people give him credit for. He is smart, quick, strong, physical, powerful and does not make mistakes. I think he needed that extra year at Marseille, if I am honest. I think that has really helped his confidence. Now when you see him play at Arsenal, and I know it is pre-season, he looks mature.”
Now, the Rolls Royce and Bentley analogy might be a stretch ,however, it’s hard to get better praise than that after a few preseason outings, but one would have to agree. Saliba is a smooth customer, and tends to glide into the right positions, much like van Dijk. After watching him closely in the Chelsea match last Saturday, I walked away completely impressed by the young Frenchman’s maturity on the back line.
Let’s hope all this nonsense about Saliba returning to Marseille is quickly tossed into the garbage so the player can focus on wearing the Arsenal shirt, and producing many terrific performances this season, and seasons to come.

He is right Saliba will really make opponent attackers suffer this season I think arsenal only need another sticker and 2 solid midfielder to bring more competition to other players and headache to the coach on who to select… I can bet you arsenal will go very far with that and who tell you that another invisible arsenal cannot repeat itself again
