Let’s get caught up on some Wednesday’s happenings around the transfer market. Shall we?
Metro UK is reporting Manchester United will make a $25.8-million (USD) transfer move for Arsenal’s Ainsley Maitland-Niles. Arsenal calls the story “rubbish.” AMN was previously wanted by Wolverhampton Wanderers earlier in the window, but Mikel Arteta decided to keep the versatile player on the Arsenal payroll.
LeProgrss in France is reporting Arsenal are growing more confident that a transfer for Lyon’s Houssem Aouar will come to fruition. ESPN reports Arsenals has decided to make Aouar their primary transfer target over Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey.
Telefoot has reported Ligue 1 side Marseille is targeting exiled Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi for a transfer. At this point, I think the Gunners will sell him to anyone to get him off the payroll and out of London. The deal could be complicated because Marseilles wants a loan, but Arsenal wants a permanent deal.
Football.London is reporting Reiss Nelson could be sent on loan this season in order to gain valuable playing time. Southampton, Crystal Palace, Brighton and Hove, plus Burnley have all expressed interest in the young Arsenal forward.
Other deals that are in the works for the Gunners include:
Sead Kolasinac going to Bayer Luverkusen
Lucas Torreira moving to Atletico Madrid
Sokratius Papastathopoulos heading to Napoli
Finally, Sun Sport reports as many as eleven Arsenal players could be on the move before October 5th.
That list includes: Ozil, Guendouzi, Sokratis, Mustafi, Kolasinac, Torreira, Chambers, Holding, Elneny, with Nelson and Willock going on loan.
To date, Arsenal has had a very good transfer window, however, there is still a lot of action to take place over then next 5 days before the window closes on Monday. Securing Aouar’s signature is the main objective, but other work needs to get done to cut down the roster, and to get rid of some dead weight.
These next few days will be interesting to watch. The clock is ticking…
Stay tuned!
Cheers, and stay healthy and safe!
