The future is now for Aaron Ramsdale

I think Aaron Ramsdale has done enough to earn Arsenal’s #1 goalkeeping position. Three out of three clean sheets in his first three matches as a Gunner.

Ramsdale has quieted most of his critics after the Gunners wrote that $32.7-million (USD) transfer fee check to Sheffield United in the summer.

Now, I don’t hold anything against Bernd Leno. Actually, I think he has done a pretty good job for Arsenal since taking over from Petr Cech, however, the time has come for Mikel Arteta to permannetly hand the number one slot to the Arsenal newcomer.

On Saturday, Ramsdale’s goalkeeping was superb. He played with passion, energy, and his backline communication skills are the best we have seen in quite awhile. I’m impressed, and I think the vast majority of Arsenal supporters are too.

There has been all types of rumors flying around claiming Arteta would start Leno in goal on Sunday in the North London Derby. The boss has denied any such statement, however, I think Sunday would be the perfect time to show young Ramsdale that the manager and the club have enough faith in #23 to give him the start in this huge match.

Leno should still fight for his job, however, I think the handwriting is on the wall for the German. He will probably serve as a back-up player until he can move on in January, or in the summer.

The future is now for Aaron Ramsdale. Let’s hope he takes the bull by the horns and proves me right.

Cheers.
