What does the Gunners have to fear going to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday?
Absolutely nothing!
Even though you can throw out all the records and all the statistics when these two clubs face-off, let’s not forget what’s on the line as the season closes in on the halfway mark. The Gunners are playing for a title, while Tottenham is playing for a top four finish. As a side note, both clubs remain alive in their respective European competitions, and also in the FA Cup.
Also, let’s not forget Hotspur has won only one major trophy in the past 24 years, and that was the League Cup in 2008.
Sure, Tottenham has Harry Kane, who has already scored 15 Premier League goals, and sure they have Antonio Conte, who is a cagey manager, however, the Gunners have so much more to play for, and have so much more momentum going into the North London Derby this weekend. Oh yea, let’s not leave out Tottenham’s other “premier” forwards, Son Heung-Min (4 goals) and Richarlison (0 goals).
The short, 4-mile drive to Hotspur Stadium will also be a favorable factor for the Gunners. First, they can sleep inter own beds the night before the match, and second, they won’t have to travel. Both are huge benefits, especially for the visiting club. Also, the Arsenal faithful in the stadium will be at full voice supporting their club.
Here is the all-time record when these two neighbors meet: Arsenal 80 wins, Tottenham Hotspur 61 wins and there have been 51 draws.
I believe this is one of the top two or three rivalries in all of English professional football, and I’m sure Sunday won’t disappoint.
Prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 2 – ARSENAL 3
