The story will be written on Championship Sunday

Let’s start with Monday’s match. The Gunners played a very good first half, but the second half became more of a battle for survival. A second Arsenal goal would have calmed our nerves, while a Burnley goal would have potentially ruined our Premier League title quest. Neither happened, so Mikel Arteta’s men battled to a 1-0 win. A marvelous corner kick header from Kai Havertz in the first half proved to be the match winner.

Arsenal has now won three consecutive matches by a 1-nil scoreline. Yes, the Gunners have kept it interesting.

So now the stage is set. Arsenal can win the Premier League title today (Tuesday) if Manchester City either loose or draw v Bournemouth. Let’s not forget, the Cherries are still in the running for a spot in next season’s Champions League. They trail Liverpool by four points, but have a game in hand, so Bournemoth still has a lot to play for too.

If Man City win v Bournemouth, then Championship Sunday will definitely live up to its name. City will trail Arsenal by just two points, and would have the goal difference and goal scoring advantages in the tie breakers.

However, an Arsenal win would make all of the meaningless, and Martin Odegaard would raise the Premier League trophy, the first time for the Gunners in 22 years!

Where this gets even more interesting is the Eagles really have nothing to play for on Sunday other than the chance to maybe determine who wins the league title. But, here’s the thing. Palace will be playing for some European glory of their own on Wednesday when they play Rayo in the Conference League Final. Will manager Andoni Iraola rest his stars for Wednesday, or will he play to win v Arsenal?

The story will be written on Championship Sunday.
