Arsenal jumped back on top of the Group A table in the Europe League on Thursday following a nice 3-0 win over Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt.
Following the match, Mikel Arteta expressed his pleasure with the win, but was not completely satisfied with his squad’s performance.
Arteta told Arsenal.com, “We didn’t put 10 or 15 passes together enough times in the game to try to get the ball more in the final third. We were really effective in the final third and we looked a threat, but in terms of composure and sometimes the timing between the units because they haven’t played together much, some levels were lacking a little bit and in football timing is everything.”
Arteta made eight changes from the starting XI that took the pitch last Saturday v Tottenham.
Goals by Eddie Nkeitah, Rob Holding and Fabio Vieira sealed the win.
Now comes another big test for Arsenal on Sunday when Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side rolls into north London.
Everyone is waiting for Klopp’s team to catch up with the performance levels we have seen over the past few season. Liverpool is currently 9th in the Premier League, eleven points behind first place Arsenal.
With that said, Liverpool remains a dangerous side. Salah, Firmino, Henderson, van Dijk, Alisson, Jota and Diaz will provide the Gunners with plenty to handle on Sunday.
A Gunners win over the Reds would put Arsenal 14 points ahead of Liverpool, which would be an amazing achievement at this point of the season for Arteta’s lads.
Thursday’s win was great, but now it’s all eyes on Sunday!
