Here are some Wednesday football notes…

UEFA meeting:
Following a meeting with its 55 member associations today, UEFA announced the Champions League and Europa League competitions are suspended until further notice. Other competitions impacted are the Euro 2020 play-offs, qualifying matches for th 2021 Women’s European Championships, all international friendlies scheduled for June, plus the European youth tournaments.
UEFA also announced their deadlines related to the 2020-2021 club competitions would be issued in due course. The call latest 2 1/2 hours, with one official on the call saying, “It is remarkable how together the football community is at this moment.”
UEFA is apparently working on several scenarios to finish this season with the intent to reduce the prospect of cancelling games altogether.
They plan to meet again next month.

The Premier League, EFL, and FA meet on Friday to determine what to do about the English leagues and cup competitions..

Dani Ceballos’ future:
He was quoted by Estadio Deportivo as saying, “I finish my contract on June 30 but I would have to continue to play for Arsenal when the season resumes. I don’t know how that would work. It would be irresponsible from my side to talk about the future. The most important thing will be to be important for my new team. My agent told me about interest of other teams in January, but I didn’t play because I was coming back from injury. I started training and changed my situation. In the last month and a half I felt important.”

Former Arsenal star Bacary Sagna on William Saliba:
“First he will need to adapt to English football. He is a big project for the future, but Arsenal need him to perform as soon as he starts. He is aware of that probably, but he has a lot of qualities and he will learn fast. He is very confident in defending, he is not afraid one against one, and most of the time he wins the duels, which is the best quality as a defender. You need some security, you need some presence and he has that.”

The best April Fool’s Instagram today from @arsenalsection…
“DONE DEAL! Breaking: Arsenal have agreed terms with Harry Kane one a north London switch. The two clubs have agreed a fee worth Nicolas Pepe and 40,000,001 English pounds for the English striker. Kane has agreed a deal worth 142,020 English pounds per week. Can’t wait to see him shine!”

Cheers, and stay healthy!
