Wednesday’s odds and ends

It’s Hump Day, and that means only three more days until Arsenal football returns. Thank goodness!

With that said, here’s a few odds and ends, along with several notes and quotes worth repeating…

David Ornstein of The Athletic said, “Mikel Arteta’s promotion to manager was something that I think Arteta himself was in favor of. Clearly, there’s been huge conversation about this. A lot of people at, around, outside Arsenal close to the club feel this was a big mistake.”

FIFA has blocked Premier League clubs from selecting Brazilian players for the next five days after refusing to release them for international duty at the request of the English FA. No Gunners are involved.

Former Arsenal forward Kevin Campbell has made a dig at the Gunners technical director by claiming Edu made a huge mistake by not signing Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham over the summer. Abraham has since moved to Roma.

Mo Elneny reportedly approved personal contract details with Turkish club Galatasaray, however, Arsenal did not accept their transfer offer. Thus, Mo will stay in north London for now.

Bild in Germany reports Arsenal’s Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos could be poised to sign a permanent deal with his current loan club Stuttgart.

According to The Sun, Aaron Ramsdale is convinced Mikel Arteta will start him in goal on Saturday after Bernd Leno allowed five goals into his net v Manchester City.

Believe it or not but The Mirror reports Mesut Ozil is unhappy at Fenerbahce in Turkey after only eight months with the club. The MLS or Qatar could be his next destination.

Shkodran Mustafi is back in the news again after his recent move to Levante in Spain. Apparently, the German defender can not be registered to play in La Liga because the shirt number he was given (13) can only be worn by goalkeepers in the Spanish league.

Arsenal scout Brian Stapleton said, “Sean O’Connor discovered Jack Wilshere and he said to me that Charlie Patino is the best player who has ever walked through the doors at Hale End.”

Edu Gaspar told Sky Sports, “I sit with Mikel and we believe in the squad. We have a striker in Aubameyang who delivers to us 25 goals every single season, and another one in Lacazette who delivers 15-20 goals every season.”

Martin Odegaard’s Norway performance v Gibraltor: 90 minutes played, 145 touches, 88.1% passing accuracy, 13 key passes and 1 big chance created.

And finally….please take a look at todays training video on Arsenal.com. It got me fired-up for Saturday, for sure!

Cheers.
