Just when you think things are beginning to take on some form of clarity, you hop on the internet and see stories that stop you cold in your tracks.
That was the case this morning when I began looking for updates on the Willian contract, and what I thought was his impeding move to Arsenal.
Here’s what I read. It’s a quote from Willian’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, during an interview with talkSPORT in London…
“He is a free player. He had a fantastic seven years at Chelsea, he’s been under various managers, he’s won multiple trophies and he has a fantastic relationship with Frank Lampard, he respected him a lot. But I think that cycle had come to a moment where it’s a good moment to leave. At the moment, just for now, I can’t say where he’s going to go, for sure Arsenal are one of the contenders. But it won’t be long before we announce it. We know where he’s going, so it won’t be long.”
What the heck does that mean?
Willian has taken his medical at Arsenal, by everything we have heard a contract is close to being finished, and then this.
Is Joorabchian trying to use this tactic as a way to leverage the Gunners to get more money for his client? Or, has another club entered the scene and jumped in for the ex-Chelsea star? Or, its it just plain BS?
Just this morning, at 10:15 am EDT (3:15 pm BT), Sky Sports New reported an announcement Arsenal will sign Willian on Saturday.
As much as I enjoy the drama of the transfer window, I equally hate the drama as well.
Let’s get him signed, sealed and delivered. We need to see the official photos of Willian in an Arsenal shirt, and soon!
Cheers, and stay healthy and safe!
