One of the great things about the internet and social media is the amount of “hearsay” that gets published every day. Rumors, baseless information and innuendos run rampant throughout the on-line world. However, there was one story that caught my attention, and even though I don’t think it is even a remote possibility of happening, it was still fun to think about.
Could Aaron Ramsey return to Arsenal?
Maybe it was Arsenal legend Robert Pires who kindled the story when he said, “He is very intelligent and knows how to adapt everywhere. Juve is a very big club and Serie A is improving him even more. He needs to stay a few more years and then he will return to Arsenal. It is my belief, I am not a fortune teller. Aaron would be perfect in Mikel Arteta’s game system.”
Other reports say Mikel Arteta wants to bring Ramsey back to north London. The two were midfield teammates at Arsenal, and have always had a close relationship and mutual respect.
It’s obvious his time at Juventus has not gone totally as planned for the Welshman. Since arriving in Turin he has struggled to find regular playing time, and now it is believed Juventus would like to offload the former Gunner this summer.
Would he play for Tottenham? He has answered that question with a single word, “No!”
But why did he leave Arsenal at the end of the 2018-2019 season in the first place? Speaking to beINSPORTS, Arsène Wenger gave his opinion on why Ramsey left The Emirates. “I met with him once, he wanted to stay at Arsenal. They had an agreement and the club came back on that, from what I understood. I tried a long time to extend his contract, but sometimes there are influences of agents as well. Every case is different. You have to understand in decision-making it’s always who is influential. What I know from him, he was keen to stay.”
The question remains.
Aaron Ramsey will always be one of my favorite Arsenal players, and yes, I would love to see him return. Why? Because I’m nostalgic, that’s why. I would love to see Jack Wilshere, Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal return as well, but that’s only because I’m nostalgic.
In my real world opinion, Rambo will not return to the Gunners. Arteta is grooming his young studs to spearhead the Arsenal attack. With Emile Smith Rowe’s recent surge, and if Arsenal can keep Martin Odegaard beyond this season, Arsenal looks to be a good hands for the foreseeable future in the attacking midfield positions. Bringing back Ramsey would only clutter that process.
However, if Ramsey does leave Juventus, let’s hope he stays out of the Premier League, because the 30-year-old can still create havoc and would be a force to reckon with on the other side of the ball.
Cheers.
