“Sorry, who?”, and other odds and ends

Here’s some odds and ends, and a few notes and quotes worth repeating…

Rob Holding, Mo Elneny and Granit Xhaka will miss tomorrow’s match.

Maybe some good news for Jack Wilshere. Football.com.au reports that the former Arsenal star is being courted y Australia A-League side Newcastle Jets. Wilshere has also been in contact with Wigan Athletic, and a club in the Middle East.

Arsenal’s Leah Williamson has been named the England Lionesses captain for tonight’s World Cup Qualifier v Macedonia.

Goalkeeper Karl Hein has signed a new long-term agreement to stay at Arsenal.

When appearing on Thursday’s Amazon Primes Video’s French coverage of the Europe Conference League, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry was asked about Tottenham Hotspur. The King said, “Sorry, who? I don’t know them.”

Transfer Talk is reporting Juventus will make a January move for Alexandre Lacazette. Mikel Arteta has stated he has no plans to sell Laca, however, there also has been no new contract talks with the Frenchman.

According to The Mirror, Mikel Arteta is set to promote academy midfielder Charlie Patino to Arsenal’s first team amid reports Barcelona are monitoring the 17-year-old’s progress.

Mikel Arteta on the goalkeeping battle at Arsenal, “It’s the same for every position. We want them to make each other better. We are competing against the opponent, we are not competing against each other here.” The manager claims he has not made his decision on who starts in goal on Saturday.

Cameron Jerome on talkSPORT, “The perception is that Arsenal is a soft touch. The Burnley match is definitely a potential banana skin for Arsenal. The game v Norwich City would’ve done a world of good in terms of confidence, but you expect them to win that game and by more than a one goal scoreline. But Burnley is the last place you want to go against an organized, well-drilled Sam Dyche team who put loads of balls in the box.”

Here’s how the Premier League clubs squads fared in this week’s European competitions: Manchester United (L), Liverpool (W), Chelsea (W), Manchester City (W), West Ham United (W), Leicester City (D), Tottenham (D)
