What a strange world it must be

What a strange world it must be to be a manager in the Premier League.

One day you are watching your squad play in the Champions League, then the following day you are sacked. Your club is 6th in the Premier League after six matches, you have just signed an important missing piece of the puzzle, a striker, then you’re gone, and soon after replaced by a guy whose club is having one of their best starts ever to a Premier League season. I guess Chelsea’s new owner, Todd Boehly, didn’t like his team’s chances under Tuchel after spending $263-million (USD) in the summer transfer market.

Here’s another recent example. Bournemouth’s Scott Parker fought tooth and nail to bring his club back into the Premier League this season. However, after just a handful of poor performances into the new campaign, he too was sacked.

So, after just six match days, two Premier League managers have been canned. This is definitely a “what have you done for me lately” job.

Who will be the next surprise sacking? Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, David Moyes at West Ham United, Frank Lampard at Everton, Steven Gerrard at Aston Villa, Patrick Vieira at Crystal Palace, or Brendan Rodgers at Leicester City?

According to one English betting site, the Foxes’ Rodgers is currently the leading favorite to be next at 4/11 odds. Gerrard is tied for 2nd with Southampton’s Ralph Hasehuttl at 6/1. Liverpool’s Klopp in 4th at 12/1.

Arsenal’s Mikel Arteta was somewhere on this list a year ago at this time following the Gunners poor start to the 2021/2022 season. However, Arsenal’s ownership saw potential in the young boss and gave him a chance to put his plan into place. Thankfully, his project is working quite well, as our north London club sits on top of the Premier League.

Yes, being a manager in the Premier League must be a strange world to live in. No matter your past successes, your coaching pedigree, or the number of trophies on your mantle, real job security was only for the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson or Arsene Wenger. However, those days are in the past as today’s managers in the Premier League live in a very strange world.

The moral to this story – rent, never buy.

Cheers.

  1. My coder is trying to convince me to move to .net from PHP.
I have always disliked the idea because of the expenses.

But he’s tryiong none the less. I’ve been using Movable-type on a variety of websites for about a year and am nervous about
switching to another platform. I have heard
excellent things about blogengine.net. Is there a way I
can import all my wordpress posts into it?
Any kind of help would be really appreciated!
